Charlemagne Youth Prize
The Charlemagne Prize is a prestigious European award presented annually in Aachen, Germany, since 1950. It aims to honor individuals or institutions that have made significant contributions to European unity and integration. Named after the medieval Frankish king who united much of Western Europe, the prize symbolizes the ideals of peace, understanding, and cooperation among European nations.
Charlemagne Youth Prize European Winner 2013
Our project, Europe on Track, is a prime example of the values the Charlemagne Prize celebrates. Since its inception, Europe on Track has been dedicated to fostering cross-cultural dialogue, promoting European values, and empowering young people to actively engage in shaping the future of Europe. Notably, the first edition of our project was awarded the Charlemagne Prize in 2013, recognizing its commitment to youth participation and European unity. Europe on Track was recognised as “a project that connects young people throughout Europe both offline and online, giving them the opportunity to express their views and making an original contribution to European integration, especially to the growth of a feeling among young people that ‘we are Europe’.” Through our ongoing efforts, we continue to exemplify the spirit of the Charlemagne Prize by inspiring youth across Europe to embrace their role as European citizens and contribute to a more cohesive and prosperous continent.
Charlemagne Youth Prize National Winner 2024
We are deeply honored to have been awarded in the Austrian national round of the Charlemagne Prize for Europe on Track 10 in 2024, as well. This recognition reaffirms our dedication to promoting European values and empowering young people to become active participants in shaping Europe’s future. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Charlemagne Prize committee for this honor and remain committed to advancing the ideals of European unity and integration through our work.
Charlemagne Youth Prize National Winner 2026
We are equally proud to share that in 2026, Europe on Track 11 was also awarded in the Belgian national round for the Charlemagne Prize. The 11th edition focused on intersectional identities and their influence on political representation and civic engagement. It explored how overlapping identities (such as gender, ethnicity, socio-economic background, disability, and sexual orientation) shape young people’s access to participation in democratic life. The project concluded with an international conference in Brussels, Belgium, and the co-creation of an evidence-based Policy Recommendation Statement addressed to institutional stakeholders, grounded in qualitative and quantitative data collected across Europe.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Charlemagne Prize committee for these recognitions and remain committed to advancing the ideals of European unity and integration through our work.
